Major Concepts/Content. The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop an appreciation of art through the sequential study of art history and theory. Students will use skills of visual analysis to critique masterworks using the elements and principles of design.
The content should include, but not be limited to, the following:
Art vocabulary and visual language
Major artists, architects, and masterworks
Elements of art and principles of design
Critical thinking and visual analysis
Role, impact, and reciprocal relationships of art in history, culture and society
