it is. Continental Academy, a leading, fully-accredited home-study high
school, has received accreditations from The Commission on International
and Trans-regional Accreditation (CITA) and the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
• Middle
States Commission on Elementary Schools (CES MSA) • Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCASI) • Western
Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) • North
Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA CASI) • Council
on Occupational Education (COE) • National
Council for Private Schools Accreditation (NCPSA)
“These distinctions are an important addition to the list of honors already bestowed upon the institution,” said Lee Taylor, Continental Academy's Principal. “It is acknowledgement – first and foremost – of the effort we have undertaken to guarantee the quality of our high school completion programs. CITA and SACS accreditations also carry the kind of widespread recognition that makes a Continental Academy diploma a valuable credential for everyone of our graduates.” Continental Academy is also distinguished by its long-standing accreditation through the National Association for The Legal Support of Alternative Schools (NALSAS). This body, along with its parent organization, The National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools (NCACS - http://www.ncacs.org/), is largely responsible for keeping home schooling a viable scholastic option in the United States. Continental Academy is re-accredited by NALSAS on an annual basis. As the coordinator of the NALSAS explains... "NCACS works in conjunction with the National Association for the Legal Support of Alternative Schools, the accrediting agency for bona fide Voting Members of the Coalition. NALSAS applies only one standard to its accredited members: Consumer protection. Our accreditation assure the public at large that at least one member of the NCACS not involved with the control, operation, or proceeds of the applicant program has reviewed and confirmed that the program's claims and conditions regarding its location, existence and operations. NALSAS validates that the program is what it purports to be. Whether such a program is desirable or suitable for meeting the needs
of a particular learner then becomes a question for the consumer to
determine." Since 1976, the NALSAS, headed by its CEO/Coordinator, Mr. Ed Nagel, has been a recognized leader in the arena of non-public education. This organization's efforts made possible the home-schooling movement in the United States.
