High School CurriculumsThe grades 9-12 curriculum all across the country is generally the same. This is done so that high school kids from all over the country can more easily transition to any of the country's college campuses. Kids across the country will vary slightly, but from a general standpoint the 9-12 curriculums are basically the same idea. For example, introducing students to a foreign language is a standard part of the 9-12 curriculum. Many colleges now require students to have a minimum of 2 years foreign language experience for admission. Many high schools are offering a variety of languages for their students. These languages often include Spanish, German, and French. Another core part of the 9-12 curriculum are the general requirement classes. These classes usually include classes in English, Mathematics, and Science. Algebra and Geometry are often required while other types of math will vary depending on the school and their individual graduation requirements. The number of English and science classes almost always vary depending on schools. The amount of credits required for graduation may also vary, but students must pay close attention to what the college of their choice requires for entrance. To help fight the epidemic of overweight and unhealthy children who are becoming overweight and unhealthy adults, many high schools include some physical education classes in their 9-12 curriculums. The amount of time that is required will vary by school, but many will require as little as 2 years or as much as 4 years. History classes are also a required part of most 9-12 curriculums. Learning about the past is very important for to develop an understanding of why things are the way they are. Most schools offer American history or World history.
