Continental
Academy Partners with Homestead Job Corps Center
Homestead, FL – April 7, 2009 – Continental Academy, a distance education high school
located in Miramar, Florida, recently formed a partnership with the Homestead
Job Corps, the
nation's largest career and technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of
Labor. Continental Academy provides accredited, high school completion programs designed to
overcome obstacles normally associated with a conventional classroom setting, while the Job
Corps provides educational training programs at no cost to economically challenged youth.
The partnership facilitated Continental’s online distance learning diploma programs at the center.
Most recently, Continental worked with The Dell Foundation to purchase 9 new computer
workstations for the Homestead campus to assist the center’s implementation of the 16-credit
EAGLE and 24-credit Foundation online high school diploma programs.
This joint venture will provide the tools, scholastic challenge,
and all essential academic support, leading to superior academic
outcomes which will better equip the students to pursue their
future educational and career goals.
